Description: The port is situated outside the Strait of Hormuz, on the E coast of the United Arab Emirates.
General Overview: Khor Fakkan is a natural deep water harbour converted into a three berth container and ro-ro facility, capable of handling large container vessels.

ETA's:
Notify control tower, agent and Harbour Master of ETA as soon as possible, message to include vessel details, cargo, flag and draft.

NAVIGATION
Anchorages:
Anchorage may be obtained in the bay clear of the approach fairway with prior approval by the port authority. The anchorage is open to the NE but the holding ground is good.

Prohibited anchorage:

Anchoring is prohibited in Sharjah territorial waters, unless the vessel is waiting to enter Khawr Fakkan port, or to cargo vessels requiring certain facilities available from this port, large tankers are not permitted to anchor within 10nm of the coast.

Navigation aids:
A prominent radio tower (framework structure) stands close S of the container terminal, the gantry cranes are also prominent.A ruined tower, stands at an elevation of 82m on rising ground 3.5 cables S of the village; another ruined tower stands on the cliffy point adjoining the port area, 3 cables E of the village.

The Holiday Inn Hotel, stands on the foreshore 3.5 cables NNE of Jabal Sidr; at night it is illuminated by lights.

Tugs:
There are 2 tugs of 2,400hp each fitted with fire fighting equipment and VHF communications.

Restrictions:
Pilotage Compulsory for all vessels over 150nrt, pilots board in the vicinity of the approach lightbuoy, moored 9 cables N of Sirat al Khawr. Pilots are available throughout 24 hours.

Max. Size:
Max. draft 11.9m., range max. 3.0m., height of wharf at HW 1.8m.

Berthing:
Two berths with a depth of 12.5m, berth length 430m.Ro-ro berths: There is a 180t pontoon.Storage: There is open storage of 100,000m2 available.

Fresh Water:
Available.

Bunkers:
Only gas oil available in limited quantities.
